NSS organized the screening of the academy award’s winner
Ben Kingsley starrer GANDHI on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The movie was
shown in the OP JAIN Auditorium, Civil Department on 29th of September starting
from 6.00 pm. Around 150 students turned up to watch the movie. The program
started with a brief note on Mahatma Gandhi’s greatness and how Einstein had described
him as a man in flesh and blood ever walked on the face of this earth. Students
were also informed that the documentary was directed by an English man and it
has won several awards and critic's acclaim. This was followed by the screening
of the movie.
The movie started with Gandhi's experience of being removed
from the first class coach despite of having a ticket just because he was not
white. This provoked him to fight against injustice. The movie vividly
described Indian struggle for independence and Gandhi's critical role in it.
The audience was watching the movie keenly and was applauding frequently in
support of Gandhi.
The movie ended with Mahatma Gandhi's lines- "Whenever
you are in despair, remember that always throughout the history the way of love
and truth has won.” Students were overwhelmed with the experience and clapped
heavily at the end. They found the movie a real masterpiece and were over
flowing with patriotism and respect for the nation and Gandhi.
