The Annual Srishti Exhibition 2013
of IIT Roorkee was held with an aim to provide opportunities to every section of the
hobbies club and other groups in the campus to showcase their innovative works.
It was held as a three day event starting from 15th March, 2013 to 17th March, 2013. As a part of this event, the RT Education Cell of NSS made an
initiative to display some of their best works. It mostly consisted of projects
made by middle school kids studying in schools inside and nearby the campus.
The event ran from 11a.m. in the morning to 9 p.m. at night.
The
exhibition consisted of 9 main projects:
1.The first project featured
a way to make street lighting more efficient by making them lit up only when a
car was passing by.
2.The second project showed
a Newton disk proving that visible light consisted of 7 component colors.
3.This project proved the
lens law, which governs the way light change its direction while passing
through different types of lenses.
4.In this project Pythagoras
theorem was proved using 3D models.
5.This project showed an
electroscope which detects charge whenever a charged body is touched to it.
6.This project was a matrix
which had a network of electrical circuits which lit up small bulbs when connected
in a correct pattern.
7.This project depicted a
model of the whole of solar system.
8.It was an alarm whose
circuit is completed whenever the water reached the top of the tank.
9.The last project depicted
an arrangement of mirror for finding the number of images formed by any such
arrangement with a certain angle between them.
The
response from the participants and visitors alike was heartwarming. “It was a
bigger success than anyone could have ever expected” said Kapil Suyal, the
General Secretary of NSS. Overall the event was a great success,
attracting more than 500 people and everyone learnt something new and witnessed
a series of innovation from the young minds of India.
