MY EXPERIENCES WITH NSS

"After since i have joined NSS, which i did as i had no other option left, i noticed some changes in my life. I know they are not so major that i can boast about them, its just about a feeling that matters. Suddenly my life seemed very beautiful and valuable to me. I noticed that people whom I just took for granted in my life, suddenly became so close to to me. I realized their importance in my life. And the reason behind these changes is NSS. When I saw the kids in NSS, lacking such basic requirements of life without which i can't even imagine my life, i came to know how well off and lucky I am. My problems which seem to me as the worst ever tragedies one can face in life, are just uncomparable to what these kids face. The good thing is they know the importance of their life and have no regrets. I had many such experiences in NSS which made a remarkable impact and will always be remembered..."

Language was never a barrier for me to talk to any villager. Whenever I walk on road some or the other child passes through saying NAMASTE BHAIYYAJI. And my classmates wonder at the respect that I am getting. When I go to village Khanjarpur, they respect me as if I am some great person. I eventually miss the dinner on the day I go to village and even it’s of no use as my stomach will be full by that time with the offerings that I get from them. Before starting EduSlum even though I always used to think of doing something, I never liked talking to them or being friendly to them. After EduSlum I found they are lower to me in nothing, just they were not given an opportunity. In Eduslum or Nirman, when a child talks to me with no respect, I never get hurt; instead I see their innocence and try to teach them how to talk. When someone who normally wastes food without having concern starts serving the food enough to eat because of some initiative that NSS had taken, mere khushi ko koyi limits nahin hote hain. Before the Govt. take initiative to stop polythene in Roorkee, NSS had took the initiative. When hundreds of students donated BLOOD during camp and in the parallel saying ‘yaar sahi kaam karvaarahe ho’ I was just able to give a smile. After inaugurating Blood Donation Camp, we were invited to attend flag hoisting function in Roorkee School for Deaf(RSD) and there every teacher was giving us a respect that one give to a life saver. After seeing children’s performance and the things that they were learning there, I gave a sigh thinking ‘haan yaar hum sahi logon keliye fund raise kar rahe hain’. They served us lunch which I never ate even in a five star hotel and surprisingly that was made by the children of the RSD. There are many Jewels in Prerna/Nirman/Eduslum, it’s our duty to identify them and sharpen them.
When I see a person in ignorance, I wish to help him to come out of the situation instead of standing on the bank and waiting for someone to come and help him. I know there are many problems in the society and they cannot be solved by anyone individually but can be solved collectively. You may be the best in some field, help the society in that way but that process will take time so side by try to educate some needy which may be in the way of sponsoring or if having time by directly teaching, ‘itta to kareesakte ho yaar society keliye’.
It is to difficult to summarize my experience in a paragraph, for more details you can have a look at my blog http://nagamreddya.blogspot.com/

I would like to say that i am that kind of a person who is easily and deeply moved to see the sufferings of the poor.Whenever i see a beggar or some small kids begging for a coin or two i feel like being shocked. Some people treat them as just a piece of crap in their locality. But not me.Rather i help them in the best possible way i can.The Initiative taken by the NSS is just a piece of great art .The blood donation camp and all the good work done by the volunteers is just so soothing and satisfying that it cannot be expredded by words. Its just like zabaglione with all its ingredients. Its just like a reformation which was awaited so long.Seeing a kid in a situation of misery and poverty is the worst thing we could ever imagine.Foundations and Trusts promises to checkout for this thing but still no reformation is seen....i do believe in the blessings given by those who are being helped by such camps......i havnt been to the camp but still its influence is earthshaking...really IIT Roorkee rocks...n the volunteers like Naisheel in such camps would lead to success in this great initiative........I SALUTE THEIR ZEAL TO HELP THE NATION
