Origami Event by RT Education

“ART”, the expression of human creative skills and imaginations... A form of leisure in which human mind finds the most satisfaction… With the motive of bringing something innovative out of the children of DISHA classes, the RT Education cell of NSS IIT Roorkee organised an event on 21^st and 22^nd January 2012 at the C Class Club which was based on “ORIGAMI”, a Japanese art of making objects with paper by merely folding it, without cutting or tearing.

A huge enthusiastic crowd of students gathered there and made several objects associating each one with their childhood and giving wings to their imagination.  A TULIP FLOWER, a PARTY HAT, a SAIL BOAT, a TWIRLING BIRD, a JUMPING FROG, a LADYBIRD, a BALL are few of the numerous objects that they made. The activity fostered their imagination. They thoroughly enjoyed and found origami to be a thrilling and informative experience.

The amount of endeavour and interest put in by the students of the village was highly appreciable and finally what came out of paper was sheer and spectacular.  This event of Origami, like other events of RT EDUCATION was based on the motive of inculcating imagination and invoking ideas in the highly perceptive minds of the children which is one of the most important and key-elements of Education. The event lived up to the NSS motive of bringing joy and imparting knowledge to the less fortunate ones and was a huge success.

Cloth Collection Drive

             On the morning of 7^th January, the sun was shining high up in the sky sharing its warmth with the world. Well that’s not so true. It had rained that day and the wind was furious. But that didn’t dampen the spirits of the NSS volunteers. 7^th January witnessed the annual, CLOTH COLLECTION DRIVE, organized by NSS, aimed at making the spine chilling winters a pleasant one for the poor.

             On 5^th January, NSS had organized a publicity to spread awareness among the people for the need to donate their old clothes. Its success was visible when the volunteers went knocking on the doors of the neighborhood. They returned with bags and bags of clothes, an evidence of the existing humanity. “A smile of joy was seen on every face knowing that their clothes will clad new lives with warmth and love,” shared a volunteer. More than 1500 kg of clothes were collected which were then sorted according to age, size and gender, for easy distribution, into bags that stood tall and proud.

             The following day the clothes were distributed not only within the four walls of IITR but a bus laden with clothes was even visible on the roads of Haridwar. Sadbhawna, Shiv Mandir Kust Ashram, Chandrasekher Azad Kust Ashram Samiti were a few places that were visited.

          The love, disguised in the form of clothes, brought a priceless smile on the beautiful faces, which will be cherished by all.
